Radiation oncology still places its needles by hand. Epione could change that.
I'm Rob Draper. I spent years selling radiation oncology and brachytherapy capital. I'm proposing a new role that takes Epione into radiation oncology as a new treatment modality, separate from NeuWave, starting with four national cancer centers where I have contacts today.
Proposed: Director, Radiation Oncology Market Development, North America
The case in thirty seconds.
The gap: needle work with no robot.
Radiation oncology depends on CT guided needles: fiducial markers for SBRT and proton, interstitial brachytherapy catheters, seed implants. Most are placed freehand. In one Stanford series, 45% of lung fiducial placements caused a pneumothorax.Source I found no placement robot sold to radiation oncology in the US.
The role: build the clinical case, then the market.
Director, Radiation Oncology Market Development, North America. A new department and a new buyer for Epione, with no overlap with the NeuWave team. Seat a four center advisory board, support the studies, give regulatory the clinical input for an expanded indication, and have the launch ready when the label allows.
Why me: it's the room I came from.
Years of Varian radiation oncology and brachytherapy capital, President's Club at 150%+ of plan, and a market built from nothing at Polarean. I have contacts at Ohio State, Vanderbilt, Stanford and MD Anderson, and I would start there.
Read this first: Epione is FDA cleared only for CT guided ablation in the abdomen.Source Radiation oncology use would need an expanded indication, so nothing here is something Precision IO can market today. Numbers with a reference come from public sources. Anything I call a thesis or hypothesis is mine. Precision IO has not announced a radiation oncology strategy; this is my proposal.
Why I can open this room.
Fifteen years launching new capital technology into academic medical centers, including radiation oncology and brachytherapy. The same buyers, the same committees, the same long cycles.
| Result | Where and how |
|---|---|
| 150%+ | Varian Medical Systems. President's Club in radiation oncology capital, including brachytherapy. |
| 100% | Polarean Imaging. Drove all of the company's 2023 revenue by landing the early adopters of a new lung imaging technology. A market built, not inherited. |
| 3x | President's Circle of Excellence. Plus Prism Gold and Leadership awards. |
| 4 | National cancer centers where I have contacts today: Ohio State, Vanderbilt, Stanford and MD Anderson. Plus Mayo Clinic, Rush, UT Southwestern and UCLA from past work. |
What Precision IO asked for, page by page.
Three minutes: pages 02, 04 and 05. Fifteen minutes: all of it, plus the sources.
| 01 | Opportunity | Precision IO today, what the evidence says about robotic placement, and why radiation oncology is a separate market from NeuWave. |
| 02 | Radiation oncology | Three CT guided uses where Epione fits, why accuracy matters to dose, what the label allows, and prostate as the long horizon. |
| 03 | Competition | The robots that could get there first, the incumbents in radiation oncology, and a SWOT. |
| 04 | The plan | Four national centers, an advisory board, a regulatory path, the first 90 days and the scorecard. |
| 05 | Why Rob | Who should lead this effort, and the ask. |
| 06 | Tools | Three working tools, built with AI, for the national launch. |
